Stupidicity

A lot going on today. I got this notice from the DMV that my car insurance lapsed, and that I'd better get my ass to the DMV and prove that I had insurance, or they'd do awful things, and the Death Penalty might apply. So, I did what any person would do. I called my children to tell them goodbye, and that I loved them. I got my First Aid Kit, strapped on the body armor and riot helmet, and headed out.

BUT!

I wound up in a Motor Vehicle office in Eatontown NJ. I highly recommend the place. They were nice to me, there was handicapped parking within a mile of the building, and I was there less than an hour. I actually got to smile once or twice. These people were terrifically nice. I hate to take a chance by identifying the location because I'm sure if the State folks read this, they'll get right over there to straighten those folks out. And, get this: I straightened out the insurance mess by presenting my insurance card and license, and when she was done, the Lady there suggested that I get over to the License window and renew my license. There was NO one on line, and she said that I could renew now, even though I wasn't due till Novemeber. All that, in less than an hour. My car was still in the lot when I went out, so how cool was all this?

My good mood led me to stop and treat myself to my Evil Meal of The Week. I hit a Diner I used to frequent years ago, and decided on a Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe to go. When I got home, it appeared that the "Bacon" of the "bacon cheeseburger" had actually gone through the grill on stilts, but raw bacon wasn't going to spoil this day. Thank God for garbage cans.

This evening I am requested to attend the PTA meeting at my daughter's new high school. That's part of the deal she and I have: she puts the effort and enthusiasm into her schooling, I'll be an extremely involved Dad on the PTA. She's doing it, so I'm doing it. Only catch is, the drive to and from the school is just under 60 miles round-trip. All together now: "DUMB!"

Hey, we do what we have to. This good mood may carry over for weeks, who knows!

I suppose one has never heard of a "microwave" oven, where in less than a minute, that bacon would have been crispy and crunchy and good eatin' on that burger!

Oh, and you're lucky I like you, I still don't enjoy taking an eye-test just to leave a comment.

Damn, raw bacon..I would have called them and probably Bitched, but then again, like u said, why let it ruin your good mood. They actually let you do all that and u did not need all the documents, they now require? WOW

  5. OK...first off, you ever look at an image especially when it is very simple & cannot make out what it is? Well, I've been staring at the top image...squinting too, but I have no idea what it is...Ü

Now, second, maybe it really wasn't a DMV, maybe a scam to rip people off??? It really didn't sound like the DMV. They were too nice!
    I renew online & it's a pleasure & one less headache.

Sorry for the long drive to the PTA, but your daughter will love you for it.
My ex took me to court to make me share in the driving for visitations. I drove them everywhere up here(they live with me) & he can't drive to see his kids!

See how one pleasant experience for the day set the mood for the rest of your day?!

Your day sounds a bit like mine... Is is something we ate? Cakesters maybe? Perhaps it's in the air...

I won't even attempt to make a guess about the above image. The men in white coats would be at my door in a flash.

Kudos to you for being an involved parent! Too many parents want the schools to "fix" their kid. Plus it shows you care, and she's letting you be there...savor it, it may not always be so. Though you have thoughtful kids, because you set the example. DMV in AZ has gotten a major overhaul, and not to say its perfect, but it is better than it used to be! Take care.

  13. You are such a good dad. I don't know many men who are involved in the PTA; it's usually estrogen infested. Good for you for representing the dads. This will mean a lot to your daughter. Now go kick some booty at that school of hers! ;-)

I've never heard of anyone with a good experience at the DMV. Consider yourself lucky. Perhaps God was smiling down on you today ;-)

  18. Crap. You just reminded me that I have to get a smog check on my car. Stupid environment.

  19. I try to never go to the DMV unless there is no way out of it. I do my car and insurance through AAA. Poor baby not being able to love your burger. Have a nice Friday JP baby! Luv ya!

  20. You must have prayed to the DMV Gods because that is the only way anyone ever gets off that easily! Is there a Patron Saint of DMV? Yes, Jimmy, I'm off my meds.

I have to drive over 60 miles round trip every day just to get to work and back, ugh! Although I do get paid to be at my work/school -- unlike the PTA. Yuck! You're a good Daddy! :-)

That visit to the DMV was certainly something to write about, because you don't find THAT kind of service in one of THOSE kinds of places!
As far as your daughter and PTA goes.. yeah.. that's having to drive a bit far, but that won't be what you or she will remember 10 years down the line. Agree? :)
