Curious...

I just wonder about something. When one gets hired to go to work on a Tech Support desk, do they take you inside and do something to your brain?

I mean, imagine you are choking on a chicken bone...you race to the hospital and when you get there, they treat you by handing you a book of chicken recipes.

That's really the level of response that seems to come back every time I contact a "Help" desk.

I once thought about becoming a Help Desk Analyst. I figured I'd have to be studying a long time before qualifying for that job.

Maybe not?

  1. Ohhhhh I understand on that one. I get this response, "Hmm... well why don't you try that. If it doesn't work, you can always call back." Yeah... and be on hold for 4 hrs.

  2. Your on a roll today! I have found more and more, that it seems as if they fully expect you to come up with the answer on your own. You get treated like your invading their space and taking up their time, expecting them to do the job their getting paid for. My favorite is after they give you the information (which in the end is no where close to what you needed an answer to), they ask you to fill out a survey on how helpful this info. was. Brilliant nothingness....(Hugs)Indigo

My niece works a help desk. She spends most of her time on the phone talking to friends and family. Not much work. I guess that's why they all seem so clueless when you actually need someone to answer a question or two.
