Hmm, A Little Revisit

Doing what I've been doing lately, TV becomes a bit of a mainstay in the daily routine. There are times where I have to sit and watch daytime TV (typically during the daytime), and there's only so much Discovery Channel you can take, you know? And the movie channels seemingly believe that we want to watch "original programming" instead of movies (the kind of thinking that drove MTV to stop broadcasting Music, I guess).

There are a host of morning shows, like the Today show. These magazine shows are on all the major networks, so they became my second choice.

One thing I've noticed that's common to all of these shows is that they routinely air segments dealing with relationship issues. And typically, the topic is how to fix broken romances. More specifically, the theme is "how to fix a relationship with a man."

Now, I don't mean to be nasty, but, are women really trying to follow this kind of advice? The biggest problem, right off the bat, is that it's women trying to tell other women how to work with men. Hey, it's a noble cause and all, but, are you kidding me? I listen to this stuff, and I think, "WRONG!"

No matter who is giving the advice, it's the same formula: 1. Identify the problem 2. Address it in such a way that it doesn't appear to be "all about you" 3. Provide a method that winds up making it "all about you". Not good. It's like Tiger Woods giving quarterbacking advice to Peyton Manning. No one benefits there, trust me.

OK, so I'm no Dr. Phil (who is majorly full of $#$@#, in my opinion) and I'm not an expert on women, nor am I a so-called Life Coach. What I am is a guy. So I have a clue what being a guy is about.

I can tell you that most, if not all of what I've heard is guaranteed to do one thing: nothing. It's women trying to tell other women how to turn their man into a woman!

Now I'm pretty sure that these people give bad advice on purpose. It keeps them in business, for crying out loud! If they devised a perfect formula that was guaranteed to work, what would they do for the rest of their lives?

I'm not going to get paid for this, so consider it a noble gesture. But I think the time has come for one of those "Stupid men" you're always talking about, (admit it, you call men "stupid" sometimes- honesty is the first step, as they say) to step up and offer some true insight into the male of the species. I've done this in some small fashion before, but after seeing the crap that's being fed to you poor souls, I think it's time to step it up a notch.

Interested? Then go here

  1. I read Dr. Laura's "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands," which is actually a pretty interesting read. She invites women to stop trying to get men to bend to their every whim and to start thinking more of his needs instead of "how can my husband please me today?"

Men are different than women. You guys notice and care about different things than we do. And that's how it's supposed to be. Once my husband helped me figure out how to talk to him and get his attention and ask for his help, etc, we were (and still are) much happier.

  2. lmao AMEN! I can't STAND the crap they feed women on those shows. One way or another it's BULL. If you want to know how to cook, do you ask the chef or do you ask the janitor?

I guess because I literally grew up around nothing but men (who happened to say whatever popped into their head without thinking about the fact I was only five) I find all these "relationship cures" you get in books and on TV such crap. You want to get along with your guy, accept the fact he's male and he will never understand why you just started crying at a jar of peanut butter. lol Work from THAT lol

  3. That's probably why we have so many sissy men these days. Most women want actual MEN, not the male-turned-female. Men and women are different for a reason.

Have you read the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus? Fun read, with some definite truths.

Heck yeah I'm interested in dealing w/ my "stupid" man. :) I'll see ya there....

  5. Hehehe...ok, tongue-in-cheek here...

Like my family doctor (umm...a woman) and I have said for nearly twelve years now...there is only ONE thing a man can do for a woman that she can't do for herself...and eventually...evolution will find a way to handle that. In the mean time...enjoy them for everything they ARE...not what they AREN'T. SHEESH... ;) C.

  6. I know late in commenting, but better than never right! I try to never put men down for 3 big reasons...I love Chad and although he gets on my nerves and I think ulgy thoughts and even have a few ugly things come out, he's not stupid. Also I have 2 little boys and oh calling them names just does NOT sit well with this Momma so when I hear or read women dogging men it just makes my blood boil. As for the shows you're talking about, you hit the nail on the head. I do watch Dr. Phil maybe once a week, for pure entertainment. He's fairly arrogant and what I did like about him in the beginning has left...he was nononsense that first year and then he went all about the ratings imo!

Good thing about being here in Germany, we don't get all those daytime tv talk shows.

I love comments. I won't lie about that!
